Eye Shadow Palette Haul

In the last month I have purchased multiple eye shadow palettes. Some are new brands that I have never had before and others are must loved brands.

Here is what I bought:

Cover Shot: Petal Metal Eye Shadow Palette — Smashbox + Vlada

I was so excited to try this palette when I ordered it. It’s my first smashbox eyeshadow palette. To be honest, I have only used this shadow once so I will have to try it a few more times before I decide if I really like it that much. This swatched very well and it applied really well too. So far, so good. I would still like to try the simmer shades with like a glitter glue.

Moroccan Spice Eyeshadow Palette

I haven’t tried this fully yet but I have swatched the colours and I am pleasantly surprised with the payoff with these colours. The foils are truly amazing. Like, WOW! So foiled! This is my first fenty full size product. I will be getting more.

Love, Trust & Fairy Dust Eyeshadow Palette

From first impression I’m not sure I like this palette as much as I thought I would. I love tarte products and I love the pinky shades so I needed this. When I used this on my eyes I thought the mattes weren’t very pigmented and the shimmer wasn’t very pigmented so I was disappointed but I would still like to try more shades and in a different way maybe.

Nudie Patoodie Eyeshadow Palette

Of course, I love Laura Lee so I need it all… the way everything ships is pure shit for me and my first palette had a bunch of broken shadows. I contacted customer service which I don’t like doing but I’ve also never had anything show up broken. Customer service let me know that the foiled shadows can be pressed back into the pan just with a finger since the formula is very soft. They told me they would send another palette on them. I received the second one with some broken shadows but I didn’t want to complain about it… Anyways, when I tried the shadows out and swatched then… love, love, love! All of the shades blend very well and are very pigmented! The foils are amazing and all the colours match so well.

Shout out to Laura Lee’s customer service though! They should be called the dream team!

What are some new palettes you have recently purchased?

Stay beautiful as always! ❤️

Ghosting My Blog

So, I just wanted to give a quick update as to why I’ve been ghosting my blog lately. I have been busy with work and life. Now that it is summer though I can get around to writing a bit more and making some posts.

I promise I have not forgotten my blog but simply needed to take a break and not by choice. I have a few new hauls and product reviews I have up my sleeves.

As for now, Stay Beautiful, as always! ❤️

Sephora VIB Rouge Sale Haul Part II

If you seen my last post you knew this was coming. This haul, I wanted to try and get new releases to try out. Two items were new releases and the other was a VIB Rouge early access item. So, lets just dive right in!

Prices are all CAD again.

Weekend #2:

Smashbox + Vlada Petal Metal Highlighter in Gilded Rose

$49 at Sephora

This was one of the new releases from the sale. It is gorgeous! The packaging has a lot of attention to detail with the 3D rose design. The product itself is pressed into a rose, which I thought I would wreck when I swatched it, but luckily it’s a bit harder than I thought. I have only used this 2 times now so I’m just getting a feel for it. So far, I love it! Without thinking too much about it, I always reach for it. The highlight is a beautiful gold with a pink/gold pearl making it natural when you want it to be.

Hourglass Veil™ Translucent Setting Powder

$55 at Sephora

This was the early access item. I actually never even seen this anywhere on the Sephora site but I did seen Hourglass hinting it so I decided to dig deeper. When I found it I knew I need it in my life. I was right! This powder is a dream. It’s so soft it melts into the skin. I find that because I have dry skin I have a hard time finding a setting powder that doesn’t make my skin tight after applying it. This powder doesn’t make anything feel tight. I absolutely love it so far. The packaging is darling too. The sifter is in the form of an “H” and the gold is so mesmerizing.

Milk Makeup KUSH High Volume Mascara in Boom

$29 at Sephora

High volume indeed! I wasn’t too hesitant about this mascara. The night before it launched in stores I had seen footage from the launch party. I heard so many people say how good it was and that the tube was heavy. The first thing I did when I received this mascara was to see for myself how dramatic the beauty world was. This time they weren’t fibbing. The tube is hefty! The metal packaging probably contributes to that. The wand was very fluffy and quite big to which I wasn’t sure how to feel about without using it. Once I used it I fell so hard in love with it. The wand coats your lashes easily and its not too big that you are hitting it all over the place.

I quite enjoyed this mascara regardless of the ingredients.

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion in Original

$28 at Sephora for Full Size

I have only used this once but for a sample the amount of product you get will last a few uses, as long as you can keep it from drying out. I actually haven’t tried this yet for how popular it may be. I don’t find myself using eyeshadow primers much and usually just use a decent concealer. I found this to be really smooth and creamy to apply just with a finger. My shadows never creased or anything like that and it was easy to apply shadow on top of.

Smashbox Photo Finish Foundation Primer

$44 at Sephora for Full Size

I live by the original photo finish primer so I thought this sample would be perfect to try some of the other primers out as it has 4 blisters with product. I haven’t tried them out yet but I am excited to.

GLAMGLOW THIRSTYMUD™ Hydrating Treatment

$75 at Sephora for Full Size

I haven’t tried this yet. I love GlamGlow as a brand and I have dry skin so I thought why not. If it works for my skin it would be worth the purchase of a full sized one.

Have you tried any of these yet? Do you think any of them are worth the hype?

Sephora VIB Rouge Sale Haul Part I

Every year Sephora has their VIB sale which you get 15% off. This year I scooped up a few items booth weekends. The first weekend I got some things that have been on my radar for a little while now. (The second weekend haul will be in a separate post.) I haven’t had a lot of time to fool around with anything a whole lot yet but these are my first impressions of the items.

As a heads up, all prices are in CAD.

Weekend #1:

Smashbox Always On Liquid Eyeliner in Black

$28 at Sephora

I drew on the back of my hand with this eyeliner and let it dry. The tip is very precise and easy to use for now. When I rubbed my finger across my swatches nothing changed. There was no cracking or smudge. I added water and started to lightly rub and nothing changed. I then rubbed harder and it did start to smudge a little but granted you shouldn’t be rubbing your eyes this hard ever.. It passed my tests this far. I then added just some hand soap with the water and it really started to come off but it didn’t completely lift. Today, being the next day and I have washed my hand numerous times and showered since the eyeliner tests and I still have a faint bit of eyeliner on my hand.

With that all said, I would 100% say this eyeliner is smudge proof, waterproof and transfer-resistant. As for any of the other claims, I will have to further investigate.

Sephora Collection 10 HR Wear Perfection Foundation in 10 Light Ivory (N)

$25 at Sephora

I don’t have much to say as I can’t run the say test for a foundation but I can say that when I did a quick swatch of the foundation on the back of my hand the color seemed a bit off to me but once it was some what blended out it started to match perfectly. I believe that is what they say is the second skin technology that this foundation was created with.

I think that this foundation will be lightweight and easy to wear.

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Water x Nicol Concillio in So Chill Cocount

$39 at Sephora

This primer water smells amazing! I don’t usually care for coconuts but the scent is so refreshing and not over powering at all. When I set my makeup with this spray I had already had on some Urban Decay All Nighter Setting Spray so I will have to try it without anything else still but I really enjoyed this spray in addition. I did notice that my foundation seemed to be staying hydrated the whole time I wore it, which doesn’t usually happen that often.

I think that I am really going to enjoy using it.

IT Cosmetics Your Skin But Better CC+ Illumination Cream with SPF 50+ in Fair

$49 at Sephora

Much like the other foundation in this haul, I didn’t put this foundation to the test yet. I did swatch it on the back of my hand like the other foundation. It does seem a bit too dark which is unfortunate since this is the lightest shade out of only 7. I want to see if once it is blended that maybe it will correct out still. I have high hopes.

There was one thing that I didn’t much care for even just with the swatch, regardless of shade. When I washed off the foundation it became quite glittery… I’m not sure if that is the illumination properties that is in it but I’m not sure how much I would enjoy having my face turn into a glitter bomb at any point of the day. Only time will tell for that one.

Briogeo Scalp Revival Charcoal + Biotin Dry Shampoo

$30 at Sephora

I have only heard good things about this dry shampoo. I haven’t been able to try it out yet but I am hoping it lives up to expectations.

Smashbox Photo Finish Lid Primer

$26 at Sephora

This primer is weird but that’s why I chose it. There are different shades of primers in the full size. You can get light, medium, dark, white and smoke. In the sample you get white and smoke. The shades light, medium and dark are color-correcting to neutralize imperfections. Smoke is to deepen and intensify smokiness. White is to brighten allowing shadows to pop more. All are made to have an even and smooth application on the eye lid without causing creasing, caking, fading or smudging throughout the day.

I will have to try this out yet but I don’t really see myself using the smoke shade all that much or at all. the white I could see it being used to cut your crease nicely.

Lancôme LA BASE PRO Perfecting Makeup Primer

$50 at Sephora

This primer is oil free and is supposed to create a smooth, radiant, long-lasting canvas for your makeup. Giving you an airbrushed look.

I guess we’ll see.

beautyblender liquid blendercleanser®

$25 at Sephora for the 5 oz.

I love this cleanser for cleaning my beautyblender. I have used it before but ran out recently and have been using the solid cleanser to give it a try. I this there is an ease with using the liquid cleanser but I think that the solid is perfect for travel.

Let me know what you got from the sale. Do you use any of these items? Do you recommend any of them to anyone?

Review: ColourPop NKLA + Laura Lee

I have to say first off that I love ColourPop for the price and quality of product. When I heard that Laura Lee was doing a collab with them I was stoked but when I heard that all the proceeds would be going to No Kill LA I was ecstatic! What a great thing to do! I was a little late to the party to buy this collection but I am so happy I did. None of these items have let me down yet and I have been wearing the shadows non stop for the last week.

Here is what is in the collection!

NKLA X Laura Lee Lip Bundle includes:

WHAM Ultra Glossy Lip (Champagne Nude Metallic with Sliver Glitter)

BAM Ultra Satin Lip (Red Berry)

GLAM Ultra Metallic Lip (True Rose Gold)

The bundle costs $16.00 USD and each individually costs $6.00USD.

Here are the lippie swatches:

NKLA X Laura Lee Foursome Super Shock Shadow Bundle includes:

Ritz (Sheer Nude with Silver Glitter)

Glitz (Matte Warm Rose)

Shiny (Matte Soft Rust)

Hiney (Icy Pink with Muti-dimensional Glitter)

There is also 2 Super Shock singles that are not part of Laura Lee’s Collab but was still ColourPop’s NKLA partnership which are:

Puppy Love

Cat Nap

All of the shadows are incredibly easy to work with just like all of ColourPop’s Super Shock Shadows. These colors scream Laura Lee just as colors that she would wear herself.

Here are some swatches of the shadows:

All of the lip products are classic ColourPop. BAM is a comfortable lip stick with a satin finish. Which is alright by me. I tend to like the more budge proof lips or just matte but going into wearing BAM and knowing that it WILL transfer was fine for me as I was just careful with it. The nice thing with BAM is that it stains the lips so even though it transfers you will still be left with a red stain. Which could be good or bad depending how you look at it… WHAM and GLAM are beautiful lip colors and I love to wear them at certain times.

What do you own from ColourPop? Have you tried any Super Shock Shadows?

Stay beautiful! ♥

My Must-Have Hair/Makeup

Just to start off as a disclaimer of sorts. I do not have anything to do with any of these companies and this is 100% my opinion. I also want to just add right off the beginning that I have extremely dry skin and I have bleached/color treated hair so even though these products work for me they may not work for everyone even in the same skin and hair situation as me. This is what personally works for me.

Briogeo is my favorite hair brand as a whole. My top 3 products from them are:

  • Scalp Revival Charcoal + Coconut Oil Mirco-Exfoliating Shampoo
  • Don’t Despair, Repair! Deep Conditioning Mask
  • Don’t Despair, Repair! Super Moisturizing Shampoo

To keep my grey hair grey I use Milk Shake Silver Shine Shampoo. I have found it to be one of the best purple shampoos I have used. When I don’t need the color fix I am always using Briogeo products. Briogeo is a 95% naturally derived, 6-free company. 6-free means no sulfates, no silicones, no phthalates, no parabens, no DEA and no artificial dyes in any of Briogeo’s products. Not only do these products work wonders but there is nothing in them that is going to reverse the process. They also smell amazing which is sometimes hard to find with hair products that are natural and chemical free.

I have used so many different brands of moisturizers some work but are too expensive to keep replacing time after time when you run out. My top pick isn’t the cheapest but the pros outweigh the cons.

Too Cool For School Egg Mellow Cream

This product is much more than just a moisturizer. This cream is a 5-in-1 moisturizer. It works as a serum, priming moisturizer, eye cream, neck cream and sleeping mask. This cream is highly enriched with egg yolk extract, albumen (egg white) extract and inka omega oil to provide intensive nourishment to the skin. It is also infused with collegen fiber to support the appearance of more elastic skin. No parabens, no sulfates or no phthalates.

Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base Moisturizer is my favorite primer after letting my moisturizer sink into my skin. This priming moisturizer is great for dry and oily skin types. It is lightweight and absorbs into the skin fast leaving the skin smooth and perfectly ready for makeup. The best part is the ingredients! It has carrot extract and Vitamin A Complex that helps minimize the look of fine lines and wrinkles. There is Vitamin C and E to protect against environmental damage. It also has Shea Butter to hydrate, soften and cushion the skin, plus grapefruit and geranium fragrances to leave a light, uplifting scent on your skin. You know what is doesn’t have is oil!

Tarte Rainforest of the Sea Water Foundation

This foundation is light to medium coverage which I normally don’t go for but I have found that this foundation has enough building ability that I love it without being full coverage. The product has a dropper style applicator which is alright for me but I wish is was a pump simply because the dropper is a bit messy which makes the bottle messy a bit. All in all the benefits outweigh the messiness. This is a good long-lasting light weight foundation that is buildable and helps keep breakout flares at bay. This has no Parabens or phthalates in it as well.

Beauty Blender

The Beauty Blender is my go to makeup applicator for all face makeup. Using a sponge to apply my makeup keeps my flakey skin away as much as I can. I used to use brushes all over but I couldn’t deal with the flakes of dry skin and how textured it made me look. Now I only use brushes occasionally for powder, blush and highlighter. I always use my brushes for eyeshadow though.

Tarte Aquacealer Concealer Rainforest of the Sea Collection

First thing I want to get right out there is that it doesn’t smell that great but I will say that once it is dry you don’t keep smelling it and that I personally don’t mind the smell as it really isn’t that close to my nose. This concealer is light weight and long-lasting to match the foundation. I always apply with my Beauty Blender. I don’t find it to be that bad for coverage but I also find I don’t need that full of coverage for concealer as I don’t have a lot of discoloring under my eyes or anything like that. This concealer has no parabens or phthalates same as the foundation.

Setting The Face

Laura Mercier Translucent Loose Setting Powder

I have always used this powder to set just my under eye as I don’t set my whole face with powder ever or it gets way too dry. Whenever I do use this powder it works amazingly. All day long my under eye will stay nice and dry and crease free. This powder is lightweight and its soft to the touch. It doesn’t flash back and it never looks cakey.

Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray

Two words: ALL.NIGHTER. This spray will help your makeup last as long as you do. I always set the whole face with this spray but I always need to use a more hydrating spray over it as it is really mattifying. This spray has no parabens, sulfates or phthalates.

Kylie Cosmetics Barely Legal Blush

I live for this blush. I am not huge with blushes but when I see this sitting in my makeup bag or beauty counter I just can’t resist it. It is pigmented so I just dip my brush in it lightly and tap off any excess. This powder blends lovely.

Kylie Cosmetics Salted Caramel Kylighter

I used to be timid about a highlighter so I was very happy when I first received this highlighter and found out that it was actually quite natural when you apply is just lightly. Now I bathe in this! I love the color on my skin and have gotten very comfortable trying to blind people with it. Even after applying layer after layer there is still something so natural about this highlight. I LOVE IT!

KKW Beauty Crème Contour Stick

First off I only used crème contour since I usually use powder blush and highlighter and adding another powder is usually too drying. I love the pigments of the double ended light contour stick for me as it keeps it looking very natural and that is what I love for a contour. I find this crème very blendable and I usually use my Beauty Blender to blend it out.

Benefit Cosmetics Gimme Brow+Volumizing Eyebrow Gel

Benefit Cosmetics Goof Proof Brow Pencil

Benefit Cosmetics Precisely, My Brow Pencil

I will use all of these when I have the time to. If I am doing a “no makeup” makeup look I will just use the gel just to slightly fill and enhance the color. If I am in a hurry but doing a “full” makeup look I will use the Goof Proof pencil and the brow gel to get a good shaped and filled brow. When I want the perfect brow I will use all three products. The Precisely, My Brow Pencil has a skinny, pointed tip to be able to draw in those hair like strokes with a spoolie on the opposite end. The Goof Proof Brow Pencil has a triangle angled tip really good for filling in the brow and perfect for beginners. The Gimme Brow+Volumizing Brow Gel just has a little tiny brush like spoolie tip to be able to brush through the hairs.

Lash Extensions

I have been getting lash extensions for about 3 years now and that is what I prefer to do with my lashes. I do use some mascara but I usually just comb it through the tips of the lash to keep the lashes in place basically. I do have some favorites!

Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara

Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG! Volumizing Mascara

I have been using Better Than Sex since the beginning. I think it is super easy to use and does a great job for me. BADgal BANG! I have only been using for a hot minute since it is pretty new right now but I can say that I LOVE IT! The biggest thing with this one is that when I am missing extension lashes I can add this mascara to the natural lash and they blend in pretty good with the extension. These mascaras may not be the best formula to use with the extensions but I have my extensions redone every 2 weeks. I have been doing this right from the beginning.

Eye Shadow

Laura Lee Los Angeles Cat’s Pajamas

Morphe X Jaclyn Hill Eye Shadow Palette

I have a lot of loved eye shadow palettes so I narrowed it down to the best single palette to travel with and the best single palette overall. The best palette to travel with is the Cat’s Pajamas Palette by YouTuber Laura Lee. She has created her own company and the first product she brought to us fans was the Cat’s Pajamas palette and she did not disappoint. This is my favorite traveling palette because it is one of the most travel friendly I have that you can create multiple looks with. No this palette does not have all the colors you could ever ask for but that is not what I am asking for a travel palette. There is 10 shades in this palette and they are really great pan sizes.

Now Morphe is known for having some cheaper great quality makeup. I have wanted certain items but being in Canada it gets quite expensive for shipping. So with that being said I haven’t been able to experience Morphe like I want to…yet! The collab that YouTuber Jaclyn Hill did with Morphe made me have to bite the bullet and order this palette. This is a palette that has it all! There are 35 different colors in this palette so you can do ANY look you want. Both palettes are very pigmented and they both blend like a dream.

Tati Westbrook’s Halo Beauty Hair, Skin, Nails Booster Vitamin

I think that what you put into your body helps what you have on the outside. My morning routine consists of taking a multi vitamin and recently I have been taking this vitamin since it came out. I love this formula it has no preservatives or parabens and is gluten, soy, sugar, cruelty and vegan free! In just the few weeks that I have been taking this vitamin I have seen the difference in my hair, skin and nails. My hair is shiny, growing and strong. My skin is less dry. My nails are much stronger. The best part is that I haven’t changed anything else in my routine besides the type of vitamin I take and it is amazing results.

These are what my must-haves are right now. Stay beautiful! ♥

pexels-photo-206359.jpegWelcome to my beauty blog.

My name is Nicole and I am from a small town in Alberta, Canada. I am not at all a professional at anything but I like to think I know a lot about a few different things. As much as I want to say that this will be all about makeup, I can’t. It will generally be about beauty but beauty as a whole.

Here are 3 fun facts about me.

  1. I love makeup. I love how it can change a person to be whoever they want to be (at least on the outside, of course).  I love how it’s always changing.
  2. I love animals more than most people. I currently have 4 pets. I have 2 dogs, a tortoise and a chinchilla. In the past I have had fish, a gerbil, a lizard, and cats.
  3. I dislike my JOB. I would say hate but I am still there and it’s really not that bad I’m just a little dramatic about it. It’s not like it’s a bad job but it just isn’t something that makes me happy. There is a reason why I call it a job and not a career, simply because I don’t see myself there for FOREVER.

I hope you’ll join me on this new journey. I hope to make it everything I want and more.

Much Love,
